‘Ash & Dust’ is a brooding look at mortality and the ones we leave behind. “Life’s too short”, says Blake on his inspiration for the single. “We lost some people close to us in the last year and it reminded me that you can’t waste time feuding with family and friends, because you never know when your time will be up”. The alt-country ballad, produced by Simon Johnson, features some of Australia’s finest session players, setting the backdrop for Blake’s poignant vocal to deliver a track that is as haunting as it is hopeful.
