2021 Tamworth ‘Not’ Festival

New year, new news! Thought I’d make it a little more personal and treat this like a real blogger should… conversational and straight from the horse’s mouth. I’ll keep it short and sweet though.

With Covid-19 still lingering here in Australia the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival was reduced to a handful of gigs and a much smaller group of artists, musicians and industry professionals. With concerns around public health and safety many venues were forced to cancel their planned entertainment. Sadly many businesses appeared to be quite empty and owners often commented to us about having ‘slow’ nights.

Yet despite the abnormality of this years ‘not’ festival it was still a great one. Fewer people meant less hustle and bustle – we stayed for about a week and felt like locals.

We kicked off the week at the TSA (Tamworth Songwriter’s Association) awards, where I was nominated for 3 co-writes alongside the always amazing Cass Hopetoun. We won two!

I played only 1 gig – playing guitar for Cass as support at Andrew Swift’s show at Moonshiner’s.

The other highlight of the week for us was the Golden Guitars. Cass was nominated for New Artist of The Year.

All in all we had a phenomenal week, with plenty of new faces and friends, too much beer and some 4am Mcdonalds. Even without the usual mayhem, Tamworth still delivered!
